Resumes · Find My Intern
Your resume has a few seconds to make a good first impression. Here is how to make it count.
Keep it to one or two pages
For most internship applications, one page is ideal and two is the most you need. Use a clean layout, a readable font and clear headings.
The sections to include
- Contact details: name, phone, email, city and LinkedIn. You do not need your full address or date of birth.
- Summary: two or three lines on who you are and what you are looking for.
- Education or training: course, institution and year finished or expected.
- Experience: jobs, volunteering, projects and placements. Lead each line with an action word and show a result where you can.
- Skills: the tools and skills listed in the job ad that you genuinely have.
Mistakes to avoid
- Sending the same resume to every role. Tweak it to match each ad.
- Long paragraphs. Use short bullet points.
- Spelling mistakes. Read it aloud, or ask a friend to check.
